The Society’s Annual Conference not only allows formal consideration to be given to matters of current importance but also provides a unique opportunity for academic lawyers to get to know each other and share information about each other’s law schools, for example, about research and research facilities or about responses to government policy.

Having previously managed the 2015 conference in York, as an organiser we have been building on our relationship with the Society and as well as delivery of the 2016 conference in Oxford, Meeting Makers have been appointed to provide full management services for the Society’s 2017 and 2018 conferences.

Congress:	World Canal Conference

From Panama to Paris, waterways from around the globe met in Inverness in September 2016 as the prestigious World Canals Conference returned to Scotland after more than a decade.

Hosted in Inverness, the four-day event gave international waterway experts, business leaders and global professionals the opportunity to celebrate innovative thinking and cutting-edge delivery in a range of disciplines including sustainable tourism development, regeneration, heritage management, climate change and engineering within the iconic landscape of the Scottish Highlands.

Meeting Makers provided part management for the conference including registration, administration, exhibition and speaker management services.

Client: International Society of Music Education

Congress:	32nd World Conference, International Society of Music Education
Dates:	24 - 29 July 2016

In 2012 Glasgow successfully bid to host the 32nd International Society for Music Education World Conference (ISME) in 2016, and Meeting Makers were appointed as the congress organiser. For four years Meeting Makers Operations Manager Vicki Grant and her team worked closely with the conference organising committee as well as the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland to support them and ensure the congress was professionally delivered

This was no mean feat, as organisation included registration for over 1400 delegates, 375 parallel sessions, 500 posters and also logistics at the hosting venues for over 1200 visiting performers, musicians and choirs from countries all over the world including China, South Korea, Palestine, USA, Costa Rica and Australia. There was also a strong local focus on groups with special needs including performances by Drake Music School among others.

The congress took place from Sunday 24th to Friday 29th July 2016 with the main venues being Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, The Theatre Royal and The National Piping Centre. Many of the concerts including the Palestine Youth Orchestra were also open for the general public to attend. Keynote speakers included Joan Armatrading and Dame Evelyn Glennie. Delegates were also invited to attend Scottish Ceilidhs, and the tour programme included visits to Loch Lomond, Glengoyne Distillery, Edinburgh, Stirling Castle and The Trossachs.

Congress:	Critical Link 8 (CL8)

The 8th International Critical Link Conference was held at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. The Congress was hosted by the Centre for Translation and Interpreting Studies in Scotland (CTISS).

Delegates had the chance to enjoy a welcome reception at Parliament Hall as well as having the opportunity to participate in a Scottish Ceilidh during the Gala Dinner which was held at the Hub. Delegates also had the opportunity to explore Scotland pre and post conference.

Client: International Association of Paediatric Dentistry

Congress:	25th Congress of the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry

The 25th Congress of the International Association of Paediatric Dentistry was held at the SECC, Glasgow. The Congress attracted 1600 international delegates to Glasgow with delegates attending from over 60 countries. Meeting Makers worked with a UK wide committee to organise the conference as well as also providing regular reports to the IAPD Office in Geneva.

Promotional activity for the Congress included a Reception at the British Embassy in Seoul during the previous Congress to enlist the support of national representatives.
Delegates enjoyed a varied social programme from a welcome reception at Glasgow Science Centre, an up close and personal greeting from some real highland cattle to a farewell pirate themed party at the Riverside Transport Museum aboard the Tall Ship. The congress dinner at the Thistle Hotel gave delegates the opportunity to wear national dress or even don the IAPD customised tartan for the evening.

The congress was a resounding success surpassing previous congresses with the most number of delegates attending, most abstracts, biggest congress dinner, and most countries represented.

As a result of our work on IAPD we have extended out our relationship with the BSPD to organise their annual scientific meetings. We have organised the 2013 meeting in Edinburgh, the 2014 meeting in London, the 2015 conference in Bath and also organisation of the conference in Leeds in September 2016.

Client: International Society of Behavioural Nutrition and Physical Activity

Congress:	Advancing Behavioural Change Science - ISBNPA

The International Society of Behavioural Nutrition and Physical Activity (ISBNPA) hosted its 14th Meeting in Edinburgh at the EICC in June 2015.

The scientific programme consisted of keynote, plenary lectures from world leading researchers. Parallel sessions of symposia, short orals and workshops were also provided to give key updates and debate on recent progress in theory, methods and new findings related to physical activity and nutrition behaviour. Scientific poster sessions were featured informally during luncheon and also during two 90 minute sessions of plenary poster discussion.

There was also a plethora of workshops throughout the congress, as well as a robust social programme including a gala dinner and ceilidh. Delegates had the opportunity to engage in a range of activities including daily health walks, a trek up Arthurs Seat and Yoga.
